How to power OFF Device properly

As far as I know there’s no graceful shutdown of the device
But how do we properly power off the equipment? Cannot seem to find any guides regarding it.

  1. Power off by holding the power-switch for a few seconds till it powers off then unplug the cord
  2. Or is it just as safe as no 1. to unplug the power cord from the equipment directly?

Follow-up question: Other functions of the spring loaded power-switch(for a lack of a better term)?
PS: The boxes we have are balance 580’s and above
