How to get Wansmoothing right

br1-mini to FH-Solo

on br1-mini
I’ve set WAN and CELL to priority1, in speedfusion set wansmoothing to maximum, wan priority 1 and cell priority1
buffer set to 200ms which seems to help the jitter a bit during the WAN failure.

on FH-Solo
speedfusion wansmoothing set to high.

link failure is set to extreme.

outbound policy on the br1-mini is to push the lan subnet through the speedfusion.

What I’m expecting is that packets will be duplicated and sent down both WAN and CELL. That the latency should look like the WAN latency (about 42ms) and that if I pull the cord then the latency should jump up to the CELL latency (about 94ms)

What happens though, is that I watch the status of speedfusion on the br1-mini I see both connections with data. I’m pushing pings across the link at .25ms. Those pings are coming back with jitter equal to the difference between WAN and Cell latency, ie:
42ms
94ms
42ms
94ms
etc.

If I yank the WAN cable the latency moves to the CELL as expected, but I never get stable jitter.

Am I missing something to get nice stable jitter?

If I change the SF link priority then I do sit at the WAN’s latency but there is a substantial gap in data when the WAN goes down.

I should add that I am losing packets on WAN failure.

an exerpt from the UI:

Reduce the impact of packet loss and get the lowest possible latency at the expense of extra bandwidth consumption.

Except I’m getting mixed latency and packet loss. Something is wrong.

Please open a support ticket for support team to check. Need to verify your settings together to perform packet capture to confirm.

In my impatience, I installed v8 beta and it resolved the issue.
