Heat dissipation 'Pepwave Transit duo w speedfusion'

Dear,
For use of the Pepwave in (extreme) heat conditions it’s important to have an idea of the Pepwave’s heat dissipation in operation. The spec sheet mentions maximum energy consumption of 18W. What amount of this energy is dissipated as heat by the Pepwave?

Cheers,
Nicolas

hello Nicolas,

We have measured temperatures up to 50°C in a semi-closed environment.
What kind of application are you targeting? We can help you in the design if needed (we are based in
Vilvoorde).
You should also have a look at the speedfusion engine for a smaller form factor and less heat dissipation but it doesn’t have wifi.

Hi Venn,

The application we’re working towards is the deployment of a closed box on field missions in remote areas for an NGO. The Pepwave will be deployed in this box. Field experiments sometimes give problems with heating, so we now want to model the situation of the closed box. Therefore, it would be useful to have an estimate of the heat that is generated by the router itself during normal operation.

Preferably a wattage range or a percentage (more or less) of the consumed power that can be used as a rule of thumb to estimate the heat dissipation of the router;

Kind regards
Nicolas
