I know this has been covered already a few times on here, but I didn’t find a response in existing threads that helps me.
I have a Peplink MAX BR1 Pro 5G which has a single modem. I recently adding a second SIM card as my primary ISP is spotty in my current area. Usually the primary service works good in the morning and then degrades around afternoon to the point where web browsers just give up if I try to load a page. However, the health check in the default configuration with SmartCheck did not trigger once, why?
Since then I have switched the health check method to DNS Lookup which kind of works but with a fair amount of false positives. Every other hour or so, it decides to switch back to the primary and then back again to backup.
The “Signal” is usually 4/5 when the connection becomes unusable. So setting the signal threshold doesn’t help.
Can anyone tell me how to fine tune the health check settings to get a more reliable failover behavior?
