HD4 to Balance 20. Speedfusion?

If I use a Max HD4 in the field and a Balance 20 in the office, can I enable speedfusion features? Or they must be supported at each end?

You can definitely use the Balance 20 to terminate the bonded connection coming from the HD4.

Do allow me to explain further on this:

HD4 (SpeedFusion Bonding capable) <----------> (PepVPN Only) B20

For the above setup:

HD4:
When multiple WANs connected for the HD4, you can have the feature to bond all the connected WANs via SpeedFusion connection.

B20:
When multiple WANs connected for the B20, you cannot have the feature to bond the WANs together via PepVPN.

In such deployment: below are the diagram illustrate the tunnels created:

Perfect, will all the features such as Wan Smoothing and Hot Failover work?

I am wanting to support VOIP phones in a moving vehicle with the HD4. I hope to sell the client on a virtual appliance, but want to install the Balance 20 I already have in stock to demonstrate the capability.

Thanks again!

Support for WAN smoothing and Hot Failover starts at the Balance 210. You can also purchase a license for the Balance One to activate these features. The Balance 20 does not have support for those features.

Most of the BR1s also have support for WAN Smoothing and Hot Failover. Please check our product comparison (Pepwave and Peplink) for the devices that do support these features.

@Vincent_Royer

If your concerns is perform WAN failover and WAN smoothing at HD4 end, then you are good to go.

P/S:

  • WAN Smoothing direction is for traffics from HD4 —> B20 end.
  • SpeedFusion Bonding is enabled to bond multiple cellular WANs at HD4 end (Unbreakable)
  • Make sure you have stable WAN at B20 end (PepVPN fail over only)
