Firmware to 8.5 File size exceed allowed Jave limit on MAX BR1 PRO 5g

I have attempted to upgrade the firmware from 8.2.1 to 8.5.0 and get a file too large error on http://192.168.50.1

Using the Web interface SYSTEM / FIRMWARE. If you use the Download and upgrade, nothing happens. If you choose the Manual file method, then a Java file too large error occurs. Using Windows 11 and tried two different web browsers with ad blocking off.

Using my Iphone, the Incontrol app does have an active button for Remote Web Admin

Any help would be appreciated.

@robiec01, this may be related to the configuration file (ref. Firmware & Documentation- Peplink).

You may try to download and apply FW version 8.3.0 from the firmware archive (Firmware & Documentation- Peplink) and then attempt the upgrade incrementally or try going straight to fw ver 8.5.0 after.

Pro tip: Use the search bar on the right side of the firmware archive link to drill down to the device you are looking for ex “Max BR1 Pro 5G.” From there you should be able to view/dl/read release notes for all fw versions for that product.

Hope this helps!

OK, that worked! I installed 8.3 firmware manually and then 8.5 manually.

It’s a little confusing when the update process seems to stops at 79%, but that is apparently due to a lost connection on reboot.

So, I plugged the laptop directly into LAN2 and did a refresh after the 3 green lights came on and logged back into as Admin.

Thanks for your help, I would not have been able to succeed without your help !!

Excellent! Glad that worked out!

I agree and that is correct. It would be nice to see a status message that indicates reboot in progress or something to that effect.

You are most welcome, happy to help! The power of the Community and willingness to share knowledge is one of the many things I love about working with Peplink products.
