Currently installed firmwares are 7.1.2 and 8.0.1.
Running 7.1.2 after falling back from problems with 8.0.1.
Would like to upgrade 8.0.1 to 8.0.2 while keeping 7.1.2 as my installed fallback.
Is this possible?
You are running 7.1.2 now ? If yes, initiate a upgrade to 8.0.2 will do. After upgrade you should have the followings:
8.0.2 — Running
7.1.2

Good info and good design. So an upgrade will overwrite whichever firmware is not currently running.

Thanks for the help. This is great as it lets someone update to fw 8 while still having fw 7 in reserve, just in case. Not for everyone, not all the time, but its great to have that option. I blogged about it too.

That is correct. Whatever firmware bank isn’t being used will be overwritten.
You can find the current running firmware under System > Reboot.
