FAQ: Does Peplink's 5G devices support both NSA and SA?

What does NSA and SA mean for 5G?

Non-Standalone (NSA) reuses existing 4G infrastructure for connectivity while 5G radio systems will deliver high-speed capabilities to 5G-enabled devices.

Standalone (SA) is a new end-to-end independent architecture that provides 5G communication capabilities without the need for existing 4G facilities.

So, does Peplink’s 5G devices support both NSA and SA?

All of our devices with SKUs 5GD or 5GH support NSA by default, and can* support SA.

The difference is that:
5GD needs a special firmware, which can be acquired by submitting a support ticket here.
5GH supports SA by default, without needing a special firmware.
