Does anyone have an Outbound Policy rule or other way to be able to direct FaceTime traffic through a SFC WAN Smoothing connection?
I am also interested in this, if anyone has a great answer. I tried to set up outbound policy rules based on this apple post: If you use FaceTime and iMessage behind a firewall - Apple Support
… but I concluded it was unreliable. Peplink if you are listening I would LOVE a simple setting for FaceTime like you have for Zoom .
I don’t use mine anymore, but it’s a simple UDP 3478 Thru 3497 outbound. I used to use that rule for my wife’s weekend facetime with her family. Now I just bandwidth lock her phone to 1Mbps instead lol
Success! Thanks, C_Metz. I had a UDP for 3478 thru 3481 for MS Teams. Extended it to 3497 and it picked up FT.
That also seems to pick up video calls through WhatsApp too.
Did you use lowest latency or fastest response time for the outbound rule setup? A screenshot would be helpful, please and thanks!
Here’s a screenshot of it working with a FaceTime call last night. We have Starlink and a poor cell signal in our anchorage, but they work well enough together to create a good experience with FaceTime.
