Extremely slow WDS speeds?

Hi all,
I have 2 AC One AP Minis.

They are about 25-30 feet apart. I have WDS configured, and signal strength for this connection is showing about 65-66db on both units.

I have a different SSID configured on each so that I can tell which one I am connected to.

One unit is plugged into my internet modem using gig ethernet.

When I am connected directly to that unit, a test at speedtest.net shows download speeds of 200Mb/s and uploads of 50-100 Mb/s

When I connect to the single remote WDS AP, and run the same test, my speeds are:
8Mbps down and 1-2 Mbps up.

How can there be this much discrepancy?

WDS is configured using 2.4 GHz or 5Ghz ?

This is using 2.4. I’ve tried 5ghz, but for so.e reason, I cannot get 5ghz to connect. I set it up the exact same way as 2.4 GHz. Put both wds settings in 5ghz and set the 5ghz Mac… Still no connection. These are both in the same building about 30 feet apart. No microwaves, metal, concrete between them…
