ESIM instalation not via in control

Jonathan and Przemek provided further insights into use cases where installing eSIMs directly through the local WebUI becomes necessary:

  1. Minimizing data usage. In scenarios such as being offshore, if the local SIM reaches its data cap and the only available fallback is an expensive connection like Iridium, even InControl2 (IC2) traffic may be disabled. However, the Iridium link could still be used to upload a new BYO eSIM profile directly via the WebUI, avoiding unnecessary overhead.
  2. Some organizations may choose never to connect their devices to IC2 due to strict internal security policies or compliance requirements.
  3. IC2 might be blocked either by the organization itself or by the Internet Service Provider, preventing remote management.
  4. Large organizations may not permit external MSPs to manage their devices within a broader IC2 group. While they may allow local access to the router, IC2 currently lacks fine-grained access controls-such as the ability to assign permissions per tag or restrict access to a single device within a group.

We will bring this topic for internal discussion.
