Dual Modem Units - Conflicting WAN IPs

We’re seeing a potential problem when deploying Dual Modem Pepwave devices with SIMs from the same service provider. The problem arises when the SIMs have numerically adjacent IPs.

Here’s the scenario:

  • MODEM 1 has a SIM with IP 205.125.135.36
  • MODEM 2 has a SIM with IP 205.125.135.37
  • the Pepwave assigns each modem a /30 causing the networks to overlap. In this case of MODEM 1, Gateway address is assumed to be 205.125.135.37 which lives on MODEM 2.

Using the force /31 won’t help in this case.

What are the work arounds, if any? ALSO, are there any technical documents that address or warn users of this limitation?
