Here’s an overview: Configuring Drop-in Mode
A way to put a Peplink router between your LAN devices and an existing firewall / gateway without having to make any config changes on the network and without needing access to the existing firewall/gateway.
It acts as a kind of Layer 2 bridge between it’s own LAN and WAN port, where on its LAN it does a proxy ARP for the IP of the customers original gateway.
When a LAN device sends traffic to the original gateway IP the Peplink intercepts it and then forwards it to the original gateway. Then if the original gateway is not available you can failover to additional WANs connected to the Peplink, and you can load balance the original connection with new WANs too.
Nothing. It stays doing what it has always done.
