Docker integration available on more devices than BR2 Pro 5G?

Hello!

Looking for some additional help on Peplink devices that are compatible to work with Docker and what have you guys seen or have deployed?

Hi, @Geronimo_Ramirez

Welcome to Peplink forum. :sunglasses:

You can see what devices support it here: The Power of Edge Computing - Peplink

Hi @Geronimo_Ramirez,
Welcome to the Peplink Community Forum.

Docker integration (which Peplink groups under its “Edge Computing” feature set) is available across quite a few of the current production models beyond the BR2 Pro. Peplink handles this tier-by-tier, mostly relying on newer hardware revisions and recent firmware.

To save you from digging through individual data sheets, here is a breakdown of the current, non-EOL (End-of-Life) models that natively support Docker edge computing:

  • B One Series: B One, B One 5G, and B One Plus (as Marcelo highlighted above, these are fantastic, budget-friendly options for running lighter containers like AdGuard or Home Assistant).
  • MAX Mobile Series: MAX BR1 Pro 5G (Hardware Revision 3+), MAX BR2 Pro, MAX Transit Duo Pro, and the heavy-duty MAX HD4 MBX.
  • Balance Series: Balance 310X, Balance SDX, and Balance SDX Pro.
  • Specialised/Industrial Series: MAX Orbit 8 and the Peplink PDX.

As mentioned by @bryn.loftus you can find a list at The Power of Edge Computing - Peplink.

A couple of quick things to keep in mind for your deployment:

  1. Firmware Requirements: Docker support is native starting in Firmware 8.6.0+.
  2. Licensing: While older firmware versions required a standalone perpetual license SKU (LIC-DOC), on 8.6.0+ it is tied directly to having an active PrimeCare subscription to enable cloud-managed container orchestration via InControl 2.
  3. Resource Limits: Always check the memory and CPU footprint of what you intend to deploy. A lightweight container like AdGuard runs beautifully on a B One, but resource-heavy stacks will perform much better on a 310X or SDX Pro.

What kind of application or container stack are you planning to deploy? If you share your use case, the community can easily point you toward the right hardware footprint!

Additionally, I highly recommend that you reach out to your local Certified Peplink Partner or via Peplink’s online enquiry form (Talk to Us - Peplink) to request to be put in touch with a suitable partner.

Have a good week,
Marcus
