Please assist in confirming whether the configuration files can be shared in the following scenarios:
- Originally using Balance 20 (HW3-6), later replaced with Balance 20 (HW7-8)
- Originally using Balance 20 (HW3-6), later replaced with Balance 20X or Balance One
In situation 1 there should not be a problem.
In the 2nd case the conversion will have to be done manually.
Now may be a good time to replace those 20s and the One with the new B-One. [Yes, I know the names are confusing. “Balance One” is not related to the “B-One.”] ;<)
Regarding point 2, does “manual” mean that I need to manually perform each configuration one by one?
If upgrading from Balance 20 to a 380 or higher model, do I also need to configure everything step by step manually?
Short answer: Yes.
But here’s an option for the longer term: Define as many of the options as you can in IC2, with specific choices possibly enabled by related tags. Then the addition of a new unit to your system will get configured by IC2 automatically. In the end you may still have to hand-craft some of the configuration elements for the new hardware, but a lot will be taken care of by IC2.
Some of the IC2 configuration settings can be imported from configuration files from your already-configured (old
) hardware.
For most of our deployments IC2 takes care of everything (I think) except the IP address space for the local LANs (we like to keep them distinct from one router to the next).

ok,I understand. IC2 is the best choice.
Thanks.
