Different firmware versions in same deployment

We were told that the firmware versions of customers deployed Ballance Router and the Transit Duos should always be kept at the same level to ensure smooth operation.

However, for the older Transit Duos, the latest firmware available is only version 8.5.5.

For the Ballance Router and the Transit Duo Pro 8.6.1. is available.

Is it safe to operate these devices with different firmware versions? What would you recommend?

I have at company network a mix of

BR1pro, TSTduoPro, TSTduo, B-ONE, BR1minihw3, BR1ent and MFA500.

I don’t have any issues with SF (SpeedFusion) or OSPF or rules.
