Hi all,
My customers faces sometimes device failure (mainly peplink 380 Gen6).
Basically the slave peplink goes down and when we tried to reboot, the LED screen displays black square… (see attached file)
Quick Power OFF and ON does not solve the issue…
In order to solve it, we have to power it OFF, wait 1h or 2h and then Power ON…
In this case, the device comes back to life after 12h…
But sometimes it takes much more time…
Running 8.0.0 or 8.0.2 firmware…
Does anybody face the same time of issue ?
Regards,
HA
We’ve had a couple of 580s suffer this. After tech support had a look the verdict was that each needed to be replaced.

Hi,
Thanks for your input…
Is it related to specific software version ?
Do you face the issue only on slave device (in my case, it seems to be)

In our case the symptoms were (seemingly) unrelated to FW or deployment - they were both hardware problems manifesting with the squarish LCD displays and (after a while) flakey booting.
The students opened up one of them (out of warranty, after all) and tracked it down to likely being a faulty firmware flash connection or flash content. Since we could not afford to replace the unit (public universities being less than adequately funded) the Balance 580 is simply sitting on a shelf for now. A pity.
