Hello,
There is a Checkpoint firewall connected to Peplink’s lan. The problem is that Peplink pings the firewall with a high frequency, causing the fw to consider these icmp messages as a DDos attack and generate reports.
Is there a way to reduce the frequency of icmp echo messages send by Peplink to fw?
is there a way to completely disable these icmp echo messages? Would this cause a problem with the firewall operation?
Thank you for your help,
Bumping this thread, since installed a new peplink B One router, our office Door Access Control Units are responding with a BEEP everytime the router sends out ICMP echo messages - is there anyway to disable this?
The issue is on the lan side
Peplink, (non HA devices) don’t send a icmp packets at lan side.
as @MarceloBarros says Peplink only uses automated ping on its WANs for WAN healthcheck.
What does a network capture show? Could it be port forwarded through the Peplink WAN? If you have configured 1:1 NAT or are using IP passthrough then it could be PINGs from the internet reaching your firewall…
Peplink confirms this happens every minute from InControl2 and there is currently no way to prevent this
