Can't get ATT card to work in Pepwave Max Transit Duo

Earlier this year I bought a 2017 Arctic Fox 5th wheel with a Pepwave Max Duo installed. The prior owner removed the antennas and wired it to connect to antennas on the RV roof, and installed a power switch that powers it from the RV 12v power system. It’s mounted high on a wall, I need to go up a step ladder to access the SIM slots.

I bought an ATT sim ($99/month plan for wireless routers, full size SIM) for it a few days ago. I can’t get the Pepwave to recognize the SIM - the system is “searching” endlessly.

I found this thread: Our Pepwave MAX Transit will not connect with my At&t sim, Help please - #24 by djamesgraham

I can’t get the SIM to be recognized even after going to → Main GUI screen → WAN Connection Status → Cellular → Details → Cellular Settings and entering “broadband” in the APN.

I can’t find any diagram about how to install the SIM. I think I have it installed correctly (correct side up, correct end in), it did “click” into place. But I’m not sure if I have it in the right slot. I tried moving it to other slots and can move to right or left but it looks like I should have 4 slots (1,2,A,B). Are they for different size sims? I can only fit the ATT sim in the bottom slots (labeled B). Is this why i can’t get the router to recognize it? Does anyone have a diagram that labels these slots more clearly?

I can’t find my manual. It came with the RV, but got misplaced. ARUGH. I tried looking for manuals online, I found FAQs masquarading as manuals (useless sales material) and several 300 page PDFs. I’m tethered to my phone and the PDFs take forever to download and then still don’t have diagrams or answers to any of my questions. Is there a specific manual for MY router with diagrams, one that’s not a 300 page PDF with info about 47 other routers?

I would PAY someone to solve this for me, but who?

I need to get this working ASAP. HELP

If there is someone who can help by phone I can be reached by phone or text in area code 831 with prefix 406 and final digits 0714.

I created a support ticket but the Peplink website won’t let me enter my email address which has a . in the username part. IT IS A VALID EMAIL ADDRESS that I use on hundreds of other websites, but you won’t let me create an account so I can’t get status on my ticket. You don’t have a phone number. I tried a reseller who wouldn’t help me. (If I have to buy a new product, that’s the company I will NOT be buying from.)

This. Is. Maddening.

is the SIM detected or not? if you have a duo you have two modems. the SIM sizes should all be the same, but orientation might change. if one modem says no SIM and the other says searching then fair to say its detected at least physically. are you setting the APN and details on the correct modem etc? maybe take some screenshots. try rotating the SIM to the other modem since you have a duo.

Check out these YouTube videos and see if they help with your issue:

I tried the card in all 4 slots. The video was very helpful for understanding the correct card orientation in each of the 4 slots. I set the APN as “broadband” everywhere I could find to set it. No matter which slot, the router was continually “searching” and never found the card. How long does it take on average for the router to connect to a SIM after it starts “searching”?

can you test the SIM in a different device?

This is the only wifi router I have, and the only device that takes a full size SIM card.
