Can't connect to B One even after factory reset

I’ve had nothing but issues with this B One since I bought it in October, but I assume it’s all my fault because I don’t know squat about this stuff. It was supposed to replace my aging Surf Soho because I wanted to upgrade to GB speed. The soho was also causing connectivity issues with my work laptop using my work VPN (I will very likely need to revisit this later). So it’s been sitting as a $300 paperweight, only used for WiFi for my phone.

I finally decided tonight to deal with it. After connecting it directly via ethernet to my home PC, I can’t connect to it with any browser. I thought maybe I changed the IP address back when I was setting it up after first buying it in Oct, but couldn’t find any records of it, so I hit the dreaded factory reset button. Waited for the light to turn red and off, then green. Still won’t connect. Using 192.168.50.1, it just times out. All lights are green and I’ve rebooted multiple times. What else should I do?

Hi,

Have you tried to find the gateway (router IP) from your computer?

On windows it’s:
Press Windows + R keys to open the Run program. Next, type cmd into the box and press Enter. Type ipconfig into the Command Prompt. Then, you’ll be able to find your gateway IP address listed next to the Default Gateway item.

On Mac:
Launch Spotlight by clicking Cmd + Space. Search for Terminal and hit Enter. Type netstat -nr | grep default into Terminal and hit Enter. Find the gateway IP address next to Default, under Gateway.

(Best way to do the commands is to copy them and paste them in the prompts)

From there on you can also ping the gateway address. If that doesn’t work I’d suggest maybe a different LAN port or try a different cable to start with.

Hope this helps a bit.

Just wondering if you configured via incontrol and set a custom port for the web admin, after a factory reset, if it gets internet it will go grab the IC2 config and use it.

I’ve been caught out with this before.

Also make sure you have dhcp turned on for your laptop so it gets an address from the b-one when you connect.

Thanks for the replies. I feel stupid, but all it took was another push of the reset button, a little longer this time. I still have to look into the original issue that caused me to let it sit idle for so long. It was blocking certain web sites on my work laptop when I was logged in using my work VPN. I’m talking about sites like Google and Atlassian, which is not good. But as of tonight, I’m able to connect with no issues. I haven’t enabled much in the way of security yet, however.
