Can the Peplink Balance Work with an Existing Firewall?

Using Drop-In Mode, the Peplink Balance fully supports operation behind an existing firewall. The compatible firewalls include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Astaro
  • Check Point
  • Cisco ASA/PIX
  • FortiGate
  • Juniper SSG/ISG
  • Microsoft ISA
  • WatchGuard

Peplink Balance has built-in firewall functionality. By default, Peplink Balance’s built-in firewall is configured to allow all data traffic to pass through. Therefore, by placing Peplink Balance outside of the existing firewall via Drop-in Mode, data traffic can then be restricted based on the criteria of the existing firewall.
