I have a peplink balance 305 and for some reason, the peplink keeps saying “starting” next to the pepvpn. Is there anyway I can disable it? We only have one building, therefore no linking.

Do you have a PepVPN profile set up? Check this by going to Network | VPN | PepVPN. Is there a profile set up toward the top of the page?
There is a speedfusion one setup but I don’t believe we are using it. I started in November and still trying to figure out the network mess here.

Hi Evan. OK … there ya go. For now, disable SpeedFusion and/or PepVPN. You can probably just hit the red “X” over on the right side of the line where the profile is shown on the page I referenced above. Or, likely a better idea, click on the profile name and then, on the next screen, uncheck the “Active” box. The latter approach will preserve what your predecessor set up – but will deactivate it. If there is really only one site and there is no other router to which you’d like to connect (e.g., for a L2 or L3 VPN) PepVPN and/or Speed Fusion would not be of value to you.
Comment: We’ve all inherited messes. But I might suggest don’t “sell” Peplink short. PepVPN and its “big brother” Speed Fusion are super-powerful capabilities. I’ll bet that after you finish triaging the mess you inherited you’ll be using one or the other. It’d likely be worth your time to do a bit of research vis-a-vis these features. You may be pleasantly surprised. And, folks here will certainly help you if you stumble along the way. (Trolls are not welcome here.)
Not sure where you got the troll vibe from, but I never said anything bad about peplink. Our network in a whole (peplink is only a small part) is a mess. Within 10 years we still do not see ourselves expanding over more buildings, therefore eliminating the need of speedfusion/pepvpn not saying that they aren’t useful, because if we had several campus’ I would be using that, but we do not.

Hi Evan. Nope! I did not mean to suggest you thought/said anything negative. I just meant to point out that this forum is different than many vis-a-vis civility, in particular. There are no nasty folks here – just a good group of folks able and willing to help others. Sorta rare these days. ;<)

It’s also worth noting that speedfusion isn’t just for linking multiple sites/buildings. There are 3rd party hosting providers selling speedfusion endpoints so that clients with peplink routers can connect via multiple WAN connections and have them be transparent (either in a bonding method, or a wan smoothing method, or even a super fast failover method), and it’s possible that your predecessor set up something like that.
As @Rick-DC said, preserving the configuration by unchecking the active setting is probably the best approach, at least for several months, so that when someone finally gripes about why it’s gone, you at least have the settings to refer back to.
And welcome to the forums.
