Just purchased a couple of BR1’s for a video live streaming event. We need to create some SRT streams where the “listening” device needs to be on this end. The client is using some Point to Point encoder boxes that they use regularly, but with hardwired internet. The challenge is that I need a public IP address and it seems cell data does not allow for that. Even working with T-Mobile business accounts, they just want to provide their router and not a SIM capable solution. Could I possibly be missing something in a setting, or would Fusion Hub help with this? I’ve went through the topics and seem to be getting mixed answers. Thank you!!
FusionHub can do this, where you’ll have a static public IP on one end (using AWS, Vultr, Azure, or similar), and the you can either forward the traffic using NAT mapping down to your client device. There are a few other ways to do this, but that would be the fastest probably.
You could also substitute FusionHub with a physical device somewhere, or even place another Peplink device near their encoders and then do a local connection between your “hub” peplink and the encoder.
Shoot me an email (chris [at] llamanetworks [dot] com) if you need help with this over the weekend, we can probably get you going pretty quickly if required.
You must have a business account and get a Inseego Wavemaker 5G indoor cellular router FX3100 that T-Mobile will give you to receive a static IP Address officially from them. They charge you an extra $3 a month for the static IP Address.
I just ordered want some tests.
I will try use SIM card in Peplink, if that will not work, I will try ask them update IMEI in system.
This is not entirely the case. We can provision Static IPv4 and IPv6 on most business/government data plans, but no consumer (and a few other types). This is not limited/tied to any specific equipment provided by T-Mobile and can be provisioned on BYOD SOCs.
Most important to note, the T-Mobile [Home/Business] Internet plans are not eligible for any static IP SOCs.
Depending on your account type, it’s a pretty easy SOC add, but requires SE approval (easy) for the first add.
Chris you note that the T-mobile business plan is not eligible. I will reach out later but what plan would be?
“T-Mobile Small Business Internet” is not eligible:
You would need to get an MI plan (mobile internet). However, I strongly recommend AGAINST doing static IPs like this. It’s much easier to use/control/manage using SpeedFusion per my first response. Almost daily we explain/show the issues with static IP on these devices and, ever so slightly less often, move them to SpeedFusion.
Chris, sent you an email with my info… at your convenience
Got Inseego FX2000 with SIM card inserted.
Now card inserted into Peplink, APN updated to: b2b.static
Everything working fine. Got static IP based on Chicago.
