BR1 Pro 5G - Slow WiFi device to LAN hard wired device speeds

Hi all,

As the title states, any WiFi device that downloads from a hardwired LAN device is capped at around 50mbps. WiFi to LAN device is only affected when downloading, uploading seems unaffected. iPerf3 tests from WiFi to WiFi device works as expected 400ish mbps on both download and upload. LAN (Port 1) to LAN (Port 2) device also gives full throughput of 1gbps.

I discovered the issue when SMB was extremely slow on the Windows Desktop that is connected to the WiFi. The Windows Desktop on WiFi was getting an internet speed test of about 400mbps down and 50mbps up. iPerf3 was capped at about 30mbps download with about 300mbps upload.

Running a internet speed test from any device (WiFi or LAN) provides full speed (wired - 1gbps down / 50mbps up … wireless 400mbps down / 50bmps up).

Here is what my network looks like:

Here are some iperf3 tests, iPhone as the client (testing showed it does not matter what WiFi device I use).

iPhone (WiFi) to the Linux Desktop (LAN Port 1) download:

[SUM] 9.00-10.00 sec 34.0 MBytes 285 Mbits/sec

Top level things I have tried:

  • Replace CAT6a cable between BR1 Pro 5G and desktop.
  • Reset to factory settings and test with default values.
  • Move desktop to LAN port 2.
  • Use Macbook Pro as server on LAN port 1 and 2 instead of WiFi to eliminate desktop being the issue.

So, the question really is, why are WiFi devices so slow when downloading from LAN port devices?

Let me know what else is needed to chase this down.

Have you opened a ticket?

There is a special firmware for BR1 Pro which includes updated/latest WiFi chipset drivers.

I have not opened a ticket, figured I’d try here first, I’ll open one up and see if the firmware can be provided.

Thanks for your insight.

Certainly seems to be a real issue. Nothing seems to be fixing it.

I opened a ticket with support linking this thread and including a quick summary of the issue.

Just to continue to isolate the issue as the BR1 Pro 5G… I connected a Ubiquiti access point to LAN Port 2 and left the desktop on LAN Port 1.

The devices that connect to the Ubiquiti AP on LAN Port 2 are getting the expected download/upload speeds 300/300-ish mbps.

I think at this point can conclude something is certainly wrong with the way WiFi clients on the BR1 Pro 5G AP talk to hard wire LAN devices.

Can anyone else think of anything to try while I wait for support?

Hi @Pep_Pep,

Did you solve this issue? Could you share with us how, please?

@Hussein_Al-Kadhim

Currently this is working fine with latest firmware after factory reset.

Not sure what initially caused it.
