Bought a used device but old owner didn't remove it from his account

Hello,

I bought a used Pepwave MAX Transit device, factory reset it but after booting it up and connecting to the dashboard with the IP address. I see that it still has information of the old owner and it’s connected to the InControl which means AP, Firmware and Scheduled Reboot sections are not possible for me to reach.

I am also not able to reach the old user to ask him to remove the device from his account.

Since the factory reset didn’t remove the old user information from the device, I don’t know what else I can try.

I can provide any information you want (S/N, etc.) if needed.

Also, the installed SIM does not find the signal, which I think might be because of the old user information.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

There is nothing you can do to get Incontrol device control without the former owner releasing the device.

You can get local control and block InControl though.

Do a factory reset. don’t let it connect to the internet, login locally and navigate to system InControl and disable the controller.

Save and apply and you will retain local management even if the device goes online.
