Both WAN and LAN Ethnernet ports consistently go down at same time

I have a MAX BR1 Mini HW3 running firmware 8.5.2 build 5243. Several times a day both the WAN and LAN ports go down.

The LAN/WAN Ethernet details reported on the support.cgi web page shows “Link: Down” for both ports. There is no green LED status light on the front panel for the ports. Both ports seem to go down at the same time. If I reboot the device, the ports come back online.

The router is in a cabinet with the doors open and a heatsink mounted on the bottom. The IR gun shows a device temperature of 112°F. Not sure if the temperature is the issue. I’ve found nothing in the event log indicating what the problem may be. Looking for ideas on how to troubleshoot the problem. Thanks

Hello.
What the type of power? OEM power supply or other type of power?

12VDC power from batteries / Xantrex inverter. Connected to shore power.

I can run a OEM 120V power supply for a few days and report back.

@andy.manager

Even though the router had been working for a year with power directly from the RV’s 12V system, it appears that the 12V battery input is causing my Ethernet port dropouts.

I’ve been using the OEM 12V output power brick for the past few days with no issues. I happen to have an unused Mean-Well RSD-30G-24 DC-DC converter installed nearby so I’ve wired it up to provide 24V input to the BR1 mini. So far so good. I’ll report back if there’s an issue using this power converter. I have no 120V power in the cabinet so continuing to use the OEM power adapter isn’t an option.

Ahoy!
For all 12v installations on RVs and Boats I would recommend using a DC-to-DC converter to ensure a stable flow of power to the Peplink router. Why? Because voltage drops will cause the router to fail and cause you confusion and headaches. It does not have to be 12 to 24, just 12 to 12. This is important when you’re running AGMs, less so if you’re on lithium batteries.
