For a few firmware releases, there has been the option to enable the NTP service on the router. However, I am unclear on how to “notify” clients of the local NTP server.
I am assuming that DHCP is the proper way to assign it, but I don’t know which option to use. I am looking in the extended DHCP options. I see that there is option 4 - Time Servers as well as Option 42 - NTP servers. Is one preferred over the other? Should both be set for maximum compatibility?
Thanks in advance! For now, I have enabled option 42 and will give it a day or so and then see what that gets me.
