Best practice deploying peplink upstream of firewall with existing site to site VPNs while adding Stalinks

Hi,

I have a few clients that have an existing network with a single fibre or FWA connection. However, they now want to add Starlink as a form of load balancing or redundancy. The client would like to keep the Fortinet or Sopohs gateway to handle the layer 2 network for security reasons and keep any site-to-site VPNs they may have.

What is the best way to add the Peplink and a Starlink to this network without disrupting the existing gateway?

This is what drop in mode was designed for. Using it would be the least impactful to the customer firewall config.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the reply. What if the client is getting a /30 subnet from the ISP?

That’s two hosts. one for the client firewall and the other for the ISP router so you’ll need Shared IP mode where the Peplink shares the ISP router’s IP.

Thanks, Martin.

I didn’t know about this hidden feature.
