After upgrading my MAX BR2 Pro to 8.4.0 build 5396, the QOS individual bandwidth limit is no longer effective. I have a subnet assigned to a “Guest” user group, and the download limit for that group is set to 4 Mbps. Devices in that subnet are not being limited, however. I reverted to firmware 8.3.0 and verified that the bandwidth limit works there. I upgraded back to 8.4.0 again, and the bandwidth limit is not working. I’ve tried various values for the limit and I’ve narrowed the user group to a specific IP, but cannot get the limit to be effective. Could this be a bug in the firmware version?

Ticket #23100372
Peplink confirmed this as a bug.
Sorry to inform you that this is a bug. Below is the suggestion:
- Running with 8.3.0.
- Please find the attached. Please set the upload and download user bandwidth limit for “Staff” to workaround the problem for the time being. We shall provide a special firmware to fix it.
Thank you.
I had the standard Manager, Staff, and Guest groups defined, with only Guest having a limit set. I had also tried adding a fourth group and applying the limit to that, but it was also not effective. Based on the response above, I confirmed that setting a limit on the Staff group does work (the mentioned “attached” in suggestion #2 was a screenshot of the bandwidth limit page with limits set on the Staff group).
For now, though, I have reverted to 8.3.0 and will wait for the fix to be released. The ease of reverting to the previous version is very much appreciated, as is Peplink’s quick response to my ticket.
