Balance One, use other gateway on LAN?

We’re using an other-brand router on the same LAN segment only as a VPN server, and this is really under-used.

LAN address

  • Balance One 192.168…xxx.254
  • Other router 192.168.xxx.253

I know this sounds weird, but could the Balance One use this gateway somehow acting as this if it was a WAN interface? Or?

Yes, it it was on its WAN it could, otherwise the only way the Balance One can send traffic to it when its LAN side is using static routes.

What criteria would the Balance One use when a static route is created? Would this be used as alternative to WANs?

You would set the destination network and traffic destined for that network would be sent via the VPN device.
