Balance One firmware update from 8.2.1 to 8.4.1 question

My Balance One router is currently running firmware version 8.2.1. I see on the Peplink download page on 05/10/2024 that the most current firmware version is 8.4.1. Which of these two paths is the best and safest for updating the firmware?

path 1 = 8.2.1 → 8.4.1

path 2 = 8.2.1 → 8.3.0 → 8.4.0 → 8.4.1

Is there anything I should be aware of when performing the firmware update?

Hello @MICHAEL_KOPERNIAK,
In theory, you should be able to go straight to 8.4.1, though if you have any issues (the upgrade does not take), then use 8.3.0 as a stepping stone.

@MICHAEL_KOPERNIAK did this work for you?
Thanks,

Also wondering about this. Mainly because of the release notes of 8.3.0 where it says:

16675
[System] Updated configuration file version. The configuration file for Firmware 8.3.0 is not compatible with firmware versions 8.2.1 or below.

I assume that it doesn’t wipe the config, but updates it to a newer syntax?

MasDG, this is something different.

An update will convert the configuration into the new DB Format. If you store a config with an old FW, you can’t import this into a new FW.
