Balance One w/ firmware 8.0.1

Downloaded the latest manual but it appears to be missing detail. Specifically looking for info/description of the Management Frame Protection options.

I get the Disable and Required switches but how does Optional work? Is there a negotiation with the wireless device to determine applicability?

This [Optional] will allow the legacy client devices that don’t support MFP to associate while allowing MFP supported client devices to get associated with the same SSID.

NOTE:
When operating in the [Optional] mode, some legacy client devices (without MFP support) may not able to associate to the SSID, this may be related to the legacy client devices improperly handling/processing the information within the beacons from AP.
