We use a B310X as AP controller for all locations. The remote locations have the wlancontroller static route set up to the home office.
I am learning to use VLANs with the first step to create a guest VLAN. I created a VLAN named Guest on all the routers using VLAN 60. I edited the Guest SSID to use VLAN 60. I’m not sure if that field is supposed to be the VLAN name or the VLAN number? It wasn’t long enough to accept the name so I used the number is that right?
I rebooted all the routers to force everything to refresh their IP. The guest SSID would not work.
I changed the guest SSID back to the untagged LAN and the devices began working again. What did I do wrong?
In the SSID setup what does “use VLAN pool” mean? I do not have that checked.

Your upstream port (whatever the AP is connected to) needs to be VLAN-aware and allow for tagged traffic, specifically vl60. Moreover, the ENTIRE transport path back to your router / layer 3 device / dhcp server needs to be VLAN-aware and allow vl60 as a tagged vlan. This is almost certainly your issue. If you’d like help, please provide a topology diagram.
Don’t check this. It’s a more advanced, niché feature that’s not required (from what you’ve posted) for your deployment.
At this time everything on the wired LAN is trunk ports. Neither the router LAN ports or switches in between have VLAN tags.
I went to one of the remote sites. Removed the wlancontroller static route and enabled AP Controller on the router at the site. The VLAN was already created from the previous work. I created the AP settings and SSIDs on the local router. Within a couple minutes the AP units acquired the new configuration. The devices on the guest network acquired addresses in the guest VLAN as intended.
So this works if I configure on the local router but something not as intended with the remote controller. We are down to just two remote sites so managing each of them separately is not much of a burden. At one time we had more of them so central AP control was more important. Unless we find the answer I will just do them at each location.
You will need to share a topology showing how you’re connecting the remote sites. A static route shouldn’t be required for most designs doing this. Please share a topology drawing and I can assist further.
