Balance 20x Virtual WAN Clarity

Hi All,

Looking for some guidance here…

I’ve got a Balance 20x that is currently load balancing Starlink on the WAN port and a Bell Canada DSL 50/7 line. I have lots of reasons for this, there are 5 of us here, constant streaming, gaming, working from home or school via video, etc. It works great! Peplink is awesome.

I also have a second DSL line that is ONLY being used for Bell Fibe TV and it requires a 25mbps DSL. I’ve tried (and failed) to consolidate the lines with Bell, it is what it is. I was actually getting ready to cancel the TV and 25mbps line, when I saw the Virtual WAN license for the 20x.

If I am understanding this correctly, I can use the license (which is pretty expensive, so I want to be sure) to add a 3rd WAN port.

Am I correct on this? It essentially turns the LAN port into a WAN port via VWAN? I can put a switch in there if necessary, but I don’t think I have to. Then, as long as I’m paying for the 25mbps line anyway, I can use it for something.

Are there any limitations to this?

Thanks

Yes, you could do that. That’s the intent of the license – to allow another ethernet WAN port.

Peplink also makes an expansion VDSL module (see below). We have never sold one of these and other than what I see on the price list I am unfamiliar with this item. Maybe someone else can offer some more information? It seems to me there may be a restriction on HW versions with which this is compatible. Not sure but a call to your favorite Peplink Partner may being you an answer.

Thanks Rick.

Any idea when Firmware 8.3 is coming out? 8.1.2 seems like a big step back.

I think the bigger question is where is firmware 9.0 that has been mentioned for ages?

Hi @Michael_Frame . We have no information as to when the next version will be released. Maybe someone from Peplink can tell us. [hint … hint]

@Michael_Frame: We just received word that we’ll be seeing 8.3.0 within a week or two. :<) (This information was not from Peplink but through an intermediary.)
