Balance 20X (AP controller) and a SURF SOHO MK3

Hi guys,

Maybe a dumb question, but I picked up a SURF SOHO MK3 and am wanting to setup a mesh network at home.

I read that the Balance 20X (that I already have), has an AP Controller. So I have activiated that, but I can’t seem to get the SOHO to join the 20X and be able to be controller by the 20X.

I’ve tried to manually set the same mesh settings on the SOHO, tried a factory reset and left it for a while (both wired and wireless), but it doesn’t seem to connect up.

Should it work?

Or will it not work becuase the SOHO doesn’t have an AP controller?

(all the latest firmware, SOHO 8.3.0, 20X 8.4.0)

This is not supported as the AP Controller only works with the standalone AP’s and the SOHO is a router.

Follow up dumb question, can I mesh the 20X and the SOHO?

I don’t believe so – for the same reason @AskTim said. Really, the best solution is to use an AP. With that approach you’ll see what the 20X can really do as a controller.
