Hi I recently upgraded from a Surf Soho to the B One and am using it out of the box and I note that I seem to get the following message from grc.com which I never used to see:
Unsolicited Packets: RECEIVED (FAILED) — Your system’s personal security countermeasures unwisely attempted to probe us in response to our probes.
I have also noted that occasionally when testing some ports respond as closed but I will try the test again later and it goes back to stealth. The ports I have seen this behaviour on so far are: 1024 and 1036.
With the Surf Soho grc never found any closed ports and definitely didnt respond to any unsolicited packets.
I am running the router out of the box, no custom rules or port forwarding and I also have the latest firmware installed. If I am missing something in the settings to fix the above would be glad to know what, many thanks in advance.
I get that response on all common ports and all service ports. I also seem to get a port 1030 closed, have just rolled back to 8.4.1 firmware and dont get any issues with it so I am going to stick with that firmware for now.
Might be some things worth checking in the latest firmware?
"…the SIM in that B One is a wholesale SIM with static, public IP*
Yup … that should solve the “CGNAT issue!”
An aside: I just ran the same test with a B310 and fiber connection at my home and the test was passed. 8.5.1 FW. I was curious as I had not tested this router in a while.
Shields up on all common/service ports yes. Absolutely zero issues since rolling back to 8.4.1 so tbh I am less inclined to upgrade to find the problem.
