On my Peplink B-ONE product code: B-ONE-T-PRM, hardware revision 1, firmware 8.5.0 build 5636, I see the following error message:
“BLE component is incompatible to the firmware, please contact distributor for support.”
I’m not using Bluetooth and I think I turned it off by: https://192.99.99.99/cgi-bin/MANGA/support.cgi → bluetooth-off
Do I need to contact support if I bought my B-ONE on Amazon?
We tried to reproduce the issue with the following steps but couldn’t see the issue.
Step 1 - Boot up B One Plus (and B One) in fw 8.4.1
Step 2 - Make sure the Bluetooth is detected
Step 3 - Upgrade B One Plus to fw8.5.0
Step 4 - Check the Bluetooth is ON, then manually turn it OFF via <support.cgi>, no error message is displayed on the Web Admin - Dashboard.
Can you submit a ticket for our team to look into the device? Do quote this forum post in the ticket so the support team can refer to this post for more background info.
I am also seeing this in 8.5.0 on my B-One. Same hardware revision. I also turned my Bluetooth off via the support page. I had upgraded to 8.5 from the factory 8.3. I am curious to hear the resolution this. If needed I can also submit a ticket.
The error message “BLE component is incompatible with the firmware” disappeared after I downloaded the firmware directly from Peplink website into my mac book pro and then manually uploaded it to my B-ONE. Interestingly, the firmware version remains the same at 8.5.0 (build 5636). Many thanks to Peplink support for recommending this solution.
To confirm, the issue occurred under the following sequence of events:
I initially updated the pre-installed 8.3.0 firmware on my new B-ONE to version 8.5.0, following a “Check for firmware” prompt.
After the update, I encountered the error: “BLE component is incompatible with the firmware. Please contact the distributor for support.”
In summary, the issue is not related to BLE incompatibility with firmware version 8.5.0, but rather a minor reporting error that occurred during the direct upgrade from version 8.3.0 to 8.5.0, bypassing intermediary versions like 8.4.0 and 8.4.1.
Thank you for sharing the details and solution if you encounter that error message.
I just had that same exact experience and message appear yesterday when upgrading a family members router. Manually uploading the firmware did the trick and the message went away.
When you did step 5, were you already booted into version? I rebooted to version 8.3, then manually uploaded the firmware and am still seeing the issue. What do you see on your reboot page?
Before I completed step 5 (manually uploading firmware version 8.5.0, build 5636), the system was already running this version. I’m not sure what you mean by the ‘reboot page.’ After rebooting, I logged in as admin and checked the ‘Dashboard’ tab. Previously, I had seen the message ‘BLE component is incompatible with the firmware’ in this tab, but it no longer appears.
