B One 5G with Max Adapter 5G

I just purchased the Max Adapter 5G and tried to get it to work on my B One 5G. Since I could not (works fine as a standalone tethered to my pc), I ended up doing some research and found that the LTE Max Adapter is supported but not the 5G Max Adapter according to the supported models section. Is there a reason why? Thanks!

Below is what is considered supported models:

@Greg_Burton
I don’t see why the MAX Adapter LTE and 5G cannot work with B One. If you find your B One with the MAX Adapter 5G cannot work, please submit a ticket and our support can follow up with you.

I am embarrassed to say that we need some updates on the supported models. Will update that information to avoid any confusion.

Hello @Greg_Burton,

FWIW - I have a B One 5G and successfully connected/used a Max Adapter 5G (with AT&T and Verizon). I will note that I had to use the official USB-C cable that comes with the Max Adapter 5G for a solid/stable connection (my third party USB-C cables were flaky for a stable connection).

I will admit that I did not use the usb cable that came with it and will try that out when I get a chance. Thanks!

Helo @Greg_Burton,
We have paired the Peplink MAX Adaptor 5G with the Peplink B One series without issue. We always use the USB C cable that comes with the Peplink MAX Adaptor.

The MAX Adaptor should work with other USB C cables, though we’ve already discovered that USB C cables are just as prone to issues as USB A cables. Sometimes, a new cable is all it takes to fix the problem.

Happy to Help,
Marcus :slight_smile:

Oddly enough, I checked it again and it showed up. I did nothing but just left it be overnight. I will be using a different cable in the future (more beefier) but thanks again for your help!

What about the antennas? Does the MAX Adapter use the Antennas from the B One Router, oder do I need to use separate Antennas for the Adapter?

The MAX Adapter is a completely separate modem. So it needs its own antennas to get signal.

The adapter comes with its own antennas. You can see the specs here → Peplink MAX Adapter - State-of-the-art palm-sized portable cellular modem .

Thanks for the feedback. I thought maybe it’s possible through it’s USB-C connection to use the Antennas of the Router itself (because often we do use external antennas). In this case we would need two of them.
