AP-ONE-Rugged doesn't get recognized by my Balance 380.

Hi, I have selected AP Controller in controller Management in my new AP-ONE-Rugged. I have also selected Persistent Controller and given the IP of the Balance. But it doesn’t get recognized in my balance 380. I have 9 other APs connected to the balance and they work perfectly. Both devices can ping each other. I must add that it appeared one time in Access Points as a offline AP but it did not have any IP assigned. So I clicked Removed offline units hoping that it will have the correct IP and come online after a AP reboot. But it never appeared again. I have also restored the AP to factory defaults without any avail. I plugged in a new Pepwave AX-One-Lite to the same Balance and it automatically got configured right away.

on the AP-ONE-Rugged that does not show up under the ap controller, is it getting an ip from the 380?
Are you able to login to it?

Yes. But initially, it didn’t get an IP from the 380. I forced an IP by setting it up in the MAC table on the 380. Now I have deleted that entry but it’s still getting the same IP from 380. I can login to the AP with that IP.

Did you log into the AP One and enable controller managment? System > controller

Yes, I did.

The support team has replied to my ticket saying that I need to update my balance 380 firmware to v 8.3.0. Currently, it’s running 8.2.0. Would this erase my configuration? I have the current configuration file. Would it be compatible with the latest firmware?

Upgrading firmware should not erase your configuration but it is a good practice to download the configuration prior. That way if the upgrade somehow changes or clears your configuration you can easily restore it.

It worked after updating the firmware of the balance. Thanks everyone for helping!
