Hi guys im carlos Im new to this group. I own about 5 br1mini routers and love the way they work for me but im computer illiterate so I rely heavily on tech support. That being said in my business if I can save a dollar i will. I have been able to purchase 2 of these routers on internet auctions that are amazon returns and 1 of them I was able to add to my incontrol group and the other im being told is part of another organization. I provided a paid receipt from the auction company where I purchased the router to Peplink but they say no go the original owner needs to release the router so i can add it problem is the auction company buys this stuff in bulk so they can not help me with that. I asked if there is another way to set this up so i can use it and peplink told me yes I can format it on my own but it could never be used with incontrol which im ok with as long as it works for me i could careless if I can see it online or not ill know its down when it stops working lol. can someone here please point me to a video step by step on how to use the router with a sim card please…thank you for any help
Hi, @carlos1
Welcome to comunity.
Please… look at your device, that you not have it in your own account, and disable incontrol.
Do you have br1minihw3 or br1mini5g?
Are you using sim cards for backup of the wan links?
About:
" have and I just can not find that page. can you please tell me how i can find it. I have incontrol on my desktop but this peplink dashboard i do not. "
When you do a login at your peplink devices, go to SYSTEM > at LEFT (look at the blue in my screen) choose InControl… Only change this setting for a device that you don’t have the device under your incontrol account.
Do this change, at your device direct connect to your computer… don’t connect this device at internet, until do this change.
About:
" if thats what i need to do can you please guide me in that dirrection as well. I have the router plugged into my laptop with a cat5 cable and a power cord, is there something else i need to do to be able to log into the router "
After a factory reset or when you buy a peplink device and connect your computer at the lan of the device…
You will get a standard ip address (by default the device will be 192.168.50.1) and your computer will be something like 192.168.50.xxx.
So… Open browser (safari, edge, chrome, etc…) and type 192.168.50.1 to see the peplink page… the default user is admin and the default password is admin .
you say that you are computer illiterate so rely heavily on tech support. that is exactly the reason you should buy from a peplink reseller. exact use case. you are doing a disservice to yourself, peplink, and resellers otherwise. good luck.
This is slightly off-topic, but
If the auction described the routers as “fully functional” (or words to that effect) then you have cause for a return and refund, since lacking IC2 functionality (for whatever reason) makes the unit not “fully functional.”
I would recommend that you do so, since with a unit that is in some other, unknown, IC2 organization you are vulnerable to sever security consequences if you ever forget to turn off IC2 if you reset the unit.
Cheers,
Z
