I am about to put a new B One into service in my home. I plan to use two Access Points (one on each floor) for WiFi. I have Cat 6 in place back to the router, and currently have a couple TP-Link EAP225 WAPs installed. Will these work ok as a mesh with the B One? If not, what WAPs are recommended.
(This is replacing my current Synology router and AP)
Thanks
Steve
Congratulations on your acquisition of the B-One – and welcome to the Forum.
Your TP-Link APs will work but I’d suggest this: The B-One has a built-in AP controller and can control several external Peplink APs in the same manner as it controls the one with which the B-One is equipped. See here …
If I were going to add an AP (or more than one) I’d simply check the “External AP” box and the config set for the internal AP (SSID[s], power levels and other parameters) would be pushed to the external AP(s). It’s quite slick really – a great design by Peplink’s engineers. There would be no need to touch the external AP(s) at all. Also, importantly, sticking with Peplink APs managed by a single controller also permits wi-fi clients to roam between the APs.
Peplink’s AP offerings can be compared here and you can get one from the same Peplink Partner from whom you acquired your B-One.
No offense to you or Peplink but trying to sell a WiFi 6 AP for $300 for residential use is pretty nuts. You can get an entire 3 router WiFi 7 dual band or WiFi 6E tri-band mesh setup for that kind of money.
