I want to come in on the FiOS connection for example (I will be upgrading the service to include additional WAN in the future.) and be able to access devices on the LAN side of each Balance 710 or HD2/4 units. This is my simplified connection as I am using SpeedFusion VPN on each unit and each is on a different subnet. I have started playing with the OSPF feature and have it turned on within the Balance 2500 2SFP and the Goliath Balance 710. I have not enabled on other units.
I want to be able to remotely administer things like cameras, server, workstations, printers, IP Phones, etc from their LAN IPs by being on the public side of the system. Essentially, so I don’t have to drive all over the county everytime there is a problem.
Looking forward to solutions. Budget is an extreme issue as we are local government, so want to be able to implement for the lowest cost possible.
I don’t see any problem with the design. You can connect L2TP/PPTP from Fios WAN to Balance 2500. Then you will able to access all remote LAN since all remote sites established SpeedFusion tunnel with Balance 2500.
Do I need to enable the OSPF feature on each unit to do so? I have been unable to access using the L2TP/PPTP that I setup between the Balance 2500 and my work desktop on a different network. I can access the LAN devices on the Balance 2500 (a Linux Mint Server), but I can not access anything on the other subnets.
If SpeedFusion tunnel is established between all remote Balance/Max devices and Balance 2500, you should able to access the remote network. The subnet of remote network will be advertised via SpeedFusion tunnel using OSPF automatically. Please confirm whether Balance 2500 able to learn the remote subnet. Please contact your purchasing point if you need further help.
I was able to establish the connection once I turned on the OSPF. As for your last sentence, I have been in contact with my sales team for reference. Unfortunately, while knowledgeable they do not fully understand everything. I would think that the purpose of a forum such as this would be the inter-collaboration of individuals with a collective mind that have different understandings.
Considering I spent $121,000 on equipment and have been recommending these products to other agencies we serve and work with, I would hope that when I post a question or need assistance that my request would be just as important as million dollar contracts or the hundred dollar contracts.
