8.4.0 firmware unable to see connected WAN device

I just had an issue where one of my two WANs failed health check. It’s a cable modem, so I powered cycled it a few times with no improvement. It remained offline for 8+ hours. Finally I had some more time to diagnose, and realized that the Cable modem was fine (all lights green indicating connection with our ISP, Spectrum) but that the Peplink router (Balance One) was somehow not seeing it. I tried the support.cgi page which indicated the ethernet link was up, but on the main UI, the status was stuck on “Obtaining IP…”.

Uptime on this firmware was 32 days when this happened.

I never saw a problem like this when running 8.1.0.

Solution was to reboot the Peplink router, which fixed the problem immediately.

This seems like a bad bug to me - needing the router to reboot to see a device which is perfectly functional is not a good failure mode.

Similar to what I have been seeing on my MBX Mini running 8.4.0. I saw a couple others complaining about it too. I have not gotten really anywhere with support yet, and the forums I have open haven’t yielded anything substantial at the moment.
