5G Adapter questions

We are testing one and are trying to understand how it works. When the device boots up and connects to a laptop for instance, is the adapter NATing? We can see it gives out an internal IP address. When the device is connected to a WAN port of a router how would you bridge it? Other peplink devices I have seen IP pass thru but didn’t see it on this but may have missed it. Thanks!

found ip passthrough so I guesss this is where I would bridge it and by default it NAT to clients on the internal LAN?

Enabling IP Passthrough passes through the WAN / Cellular IP to the first DHCP client.

To accomplish your goal of connecting it to a WAN port of a router, simply enable IP Passthrough, save the configuration, and then connect it to the router’s WAN port. You may need to power cycle the device after connecting it to the router’s WAN port to clear out any DHCP data.

Thanks for replying, appreciated. I guess my confusion is the way it’s marketed unless I’m missing something. I think if you connect this to a routers WAN port the way it comes out of the box, you will have a double NAT but maybe I’m wrong. I get the IP passthrough part, it has come in super handy.

It’s only double-NAT if you don’t have IP Passthrough on.
