VPN Over Satellite

Balance one on one side Balance 20 on the other side. Both have latest firmware

one side is running Comcast cable with lots of speed… other side has Exede satellite… speed test when connected directly to a computer shows 49 Meg down and 4.8 Meg up with a latency of around 600 mls.

when opening a app that uses the VPN shows 200 kbps down and 6 kbps up!

Try doing a PepVPN test over the VPN

Do the first test (upload and then download) in TCP mode. You will probably find this maxing out at around 2Mbps.

Then do a test (upload and then download) in UDP. In this mode, you have to specify how much data it will force down the tunnel. You will probably find that you can push close to the expected bandwidth down the link when running the UDP test.

This is the drawbacks of using a VPN of satellite, the “TCP Spoofing” that is been done by you satellite modem is been bypassed by the VPN.
