Synergy mode firmware update SD

Because the SD’s are forced in “Restricted to Status Reporting Only” for incontrol2 you are not able to update through incontrol2.
So currently the only way to update the firmware of the SD (from what we found and according to support) is to reach its web interface via the SC and update it from there.
If you only have to couple setups it wont be a problem, but with 80+ SD’s it will take a huge amount of time and effort to get them all updated.

Even though the Synergy mode is a very nice feature this will be one of the reasons to not use it in huge deployments.

So an “easy” solution would be to have another checkbox that allows updates from incontrol2 while in “Restricted to Status Reporting Only” mode and have this enabled on all SD’s.

Another solution would be that the SC controls the firmware versions of the SD (with an option to disable it). So when the SC updates to a new firmware the SD will update to the same firmware.

I concur with this. The only way I can update the F/W on my MAX Transit Duo Pro E that is controlled by my MAX BR2 Pro is via the remote web admin interface from IC2 (InControl2). If for whatever reason I can’t get the Pro E online it’s then impossible for me to update without jumping through hoops.

I agree we need a way to update the slave device fw.

In 8.4.0, the synergized device’s web admin can be accessed from Controller’s gateway web admin proxy. In the future firmware release, we will add a page on the Controller to do firmware management for synergized devices. The idea is similar to the existing AP controller.

This doesn’t work in all cases, please see my reply above for the workaround I have to use (provided by PL support).
