SyncEthernet feature

Hello,

I’d like to know if you have in a roadmap support for SyncE (IEEE 1588 v2) protocol?

Best regards,

Gregor

Hi Gregor,

Can you share the used case on this?

Hi.

Use case is synchronisation of applications in smart-grid.

IEEE1588v2 would be used as time sync without GPS or as backup for GPS failure.

For sure there is usually a demand for MAC PHY on ETH that should support IEEE1588 natively (in HW)

I’ll get with more details on PM later.

BR,

Gregor

Hi Gregor,

I have checked with the team. This is not on our roadmap at the moment.

Thank you for your feature request.

Hi Gregor,

We have another round of discussion on this. Production team would like to explore more on this.

Based on our understanding, the Precision Time Protocol (PTP) is used to synchronize clocks throughout a computer network. May I know the application you mentioned doesn’t support NTP? Fyi, Peplink product does support NTP.

Can you share more on how you will use the mentioned application with Precision Time Protocol to work with Peplink? If you can provide a design diagram with explanation will be great.

Thank you.
