What does that mean, I can not access the unit, my customer tells me this happened after a firmware upgrade.
Is there something like a recovery mode?

This is definitely unusual. If a factory reset from the pinhole in the front does not let things progress further we’d want to get a service ticket started to determine RMA/Warranty coverage.
Factory reset does nothing, I created a ticket in you support system some 5 minutes ago.
This device has been replaced.
