Soho does not appear on network

I moved and my soho was disconnected for a while.

Soho MK3 with firmware 7.1.2 build 1387 (I know I need to do updates to firmware and was starting to do precisely that when this issue arose.)

I used to be able to simply login with the new IP address I assigned to it from several laptops using a standard ethernet cable connection direct from PC to one of the LAN ports.

Now I cannot get any connection to it. I have a solid green light on the front for status and flashing wi-fi though I am not using wifi.

I’ve tried running an IP scanner to look for it on the address I had it assigned and no sign of it.

Besides doing a reset, anyone got any suggestions for what could be the solution to the issue?

A couple guesses.

Have you checked that the Wifi SSIDs the router normally creates exist? Its one way to verify that the router has actually booted up.

Also check the LAN port your computer is plugged into to verify that the LED lights are on. If not, you don’t have a live ethernet connection. In that case, try a different LAN port, different Ethernet cable and different computer.

An obvious guess is that the computer you are using and the route are on different subnets. Is the computer getting its LAN side IP from the router? Or, maybe one of the LAN ports are in a different VLAN?

In general, when things go wrong change everything you can to narrow down the problem. LAN port, ethernet cable and computer.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for jumping in here - you were a tremendous help when I first got this Soho.
Your message triggered me to double-check the range of IP addresses that I had configured for the Soho and sure enough, the IP I was trying on the computer was outside that range.

Now I can see the soho and get to the login screen… and it is not happy with my admin level login id and credentials. From my notes I was able to login Sept of 2024 with those credentials so now I am going to need to figure out this next step.

Perhaps try to login as the read-only user. Mostly just to verify that its not an issue of CAPS LOCK on the keyboard.

Keyboards break. Try another computer.

If you have access to InControl2, it offers another way to get into the router

If your notes are on paper, you would not be the first person to make an upper/lower case mistake due to sloppy handwriting. Passwords are always case sensitive.

Lesson learned, this is why we backup router configurations to a file. Factory reset, restore config and be back in business.

I think I must have changed something last September and have no idea what that might be.

I tried the admin pw reset and ended up with a total system reset after 6 seconds.

I have applied all the firmware updates available and now am slowly making my way through your excellent initial setup guide.
