Question on upgrading Balance 20 from firmware 5 to 6

I read the doc on upgrading a Balance 20 from firmware 5 to 6 here

and had a question.

Its not clear if the unlock key is needed before the system reboots into v6 or afterwards.

If they key is entered after rebooting (while v6 is running), what state is the router in before they unlock key is entered? Specifically, I need to know if the admin web UI will be available remotely so that I can enter the unlock key.

Hi Michael,

The unlock key is needed after the system boots into v6 firmware. When you login to the web UI you will be presented with a screen where you enter the key.

Tim,

Its clear that until the unlock key is entered the router is in some type of restricted status. Will I be able to access the router remotely via a DDNS name or can the key only be entered locally via a private IP address (192.168.something). Or, can the key be entered via incontrol2? Thanks.

Hi Michael,

You will still be able to access the router via the DDNS name. Once you login you will be presented with the page that asks for the unlock key.
